Applicant (Full Membership)

We welcome applications from professionals who share EASA’s commitment to the care, conservation, and creative renewal of ecclesiastical buildings.

Set out below is guidance on completing an application of for Full Membership of the Association. Please ensure you read this and the guidance documents carefully before making a submission.

Applying for Full Membership

Existing EASA Members should email the completed assessment sheet and supporting documentation to the Membership Secretary on .

New Members should use the online form below, uploading the assessment sheet and supporting documentation as instructed (further documents can be emailed to the Membership Secretary if required).

Upon submission of an application and all supporting documents, it will be assessed by the Membership Sub-Committee, who will make a recommendation to the General Committee, after which applicants will be notified of the outcome. General Committee meetings are held on alternate months.

Applications will be assessed against 12 carefully selected criteria, chosen to demonstrate an understanding of broad conservation issues, as well as the highly specialist and nuanced field of ecclesiastical work.

Evidence and Supporting Documentation:

Applicants are required to demonstrate “Awareness” in all the 12 categories and “Competence” in at least four. This is achieved by setting out, under each of those 12 headings (in no more than 200 words per category), why they feel they achieve the required level, referencing any supporting documentation submitted to demonstrate this.

Examples of supporting documentation which might be used include:

  • Case studies – no more than 4 pages long (these may be a relevant extract from a longer case study prepared for another application)
  • Quinquennial Inspection or Fabric Condition Assessment (ideally an extract highlighting a particular issue)
  • Published papers/articles – again no more than 4 pages long (i.e. a relevant extract)
  • References or supporting letters from clergy, clients, or conservation officers
    Evidence of professional accreditation (e.g. AABC, IHBC)
  • Evidence of membership of bodies, committees, etc. (e.g. DAC, FAC, SPAB, etc.)
  • CPD record or evidence of attendance to conferences, events, training, etc.
  • CV, setting out your experience with ecclesiastical and faith work, ideally including a project list summarising your ecclesiastical work.
